Where: Bermondsey Fayre, 212 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3TQ
When: Friday, 27 April, 7pm
We are delighted to collaborate with the amazing Bermondsey Fayre on Bermondsey Street to offer Tea Ceremony there. By day - a shop, by night - a yoga space with different beautiful events. Liz Dillon - the owner and an amazing yoga teacher - created an oasis of calm and creativity on the ever so popular and trendy Bermondsey Street, offering us beautiful creations by beautiful independent deisgners and artisans. At night the shop is transformed as if by magic, creating a perfect place to hold Tea Ceremony.
Tea Ceremony is a space where magic happens. It is about slowing down and connecting - with ourselves, each other and the world around us. Through sharing tea in noble silence we are coming yet again to ourcentre, our hearts, our being.
Tea is called The Great Connector. Me, you, tea, us. Through drinking the tea we inevitably become Tea. Become drinking Tea. We connect to ourselves, our True Nature by simply being. Through drinking the same Tea from the same bowls in the same way in a repetative process we become part of this unified space, and we become all one.
During tea ceremony, we shall focus our attention on tea, examine its colour, aroma. Tune into tea. Watch carefully how water merges with fire. Feel teaware with all our being. Feel that our body is also a precious vessel. Perform each movement with complete awareness and presence, always remembering the importance of every object, every action. "How you do anything is how you do everything," - Wu De, my teacher from Global Tea Hut constantly reminds us. Tea is a great Teacher to cultivate that.
Simply drinking tea, brewing it, listening to the sound of wind outside and the sound of boiling water – this is the way to inner harmony and balance of mind, an opportunity to be in a present moment without ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. Tea provides this opportunity to everyone.
The seating is done on the floor, and there will be plenty of cushions . After tea we will share some healthy snacks - nuts, fruit, chocolate.
I am looking forward to sharing a bowl of tea with you all!
